What is Medication Assisted Treatment? MAT for Substance Use Disorders & Addiction Treatment

Medication assisted treatment, or MAT is a treatment for addiction that utilizes FDA approved medications to ease cravings and withdrawal symptoms for someone who is trying to quit using drugs or alcohol.

These medications include naloxone, buprenorphine and Suboxone. They are used in conjunction with individual and group therapy sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy and personalized counseling.

MAT’s help Healing Path Recovery provide a “whole patient approach” to addiction treatment. The medications, coupled with group and individual therapy techniques help improve the whole-person health of our patients.

Medication assisted treatments are especially productive in helping to reduce the likelihood of an opioid overdose for anyone who has developed an addiction to prescription or illicit opioids & opiates.
