Dr. Virendra Patel is the chief of vascular surgery and co-director of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Aortic Center. He specializes in both open and minimally invasive surgeries to treat disease involving the veins and arteries with special expertise in the treatment of complex chest and abdominal vascular disorders, such as aneurysms and dissections (tears), particularly in the aorta, the body’s largest artery.
Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his surgical residency and a research fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was also a clinical fellow in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Massachusetts General. Board-certified in general surgery and vascular surgery, Dr. Patel also earned a Master of Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Program of Clinical Effectiveness.
