This is not medical advice. This is simply what worked for my particular case. Supporting links follow.
- I went to the doctor and was prescribed antiviral drugs within 72 hours of the rash.
Valacyclovir vs. Acyclovir vs. Famciclovir
Took antiviral medication as directed. Didn’t miss a dose and spaced doses apart evenly.
Took Prednisone as directed.
Received anti-inflammatory shot.
- Warned friends and family, especially those who have children not yet immunized or exposed to chicken pox.
Applied Tea Tree oil topically with Q-Tip or brush. Did not directly touch the rash with your bare hands.
Took Lysine & Avoided Arginine rich foods.
- Avoided heat and stress. Consult a professional and get educated about your condition. Avoid touching or spreading the outbreak. Avoid touching your eyes, practice good hygene.
Consider getting the Shingles Vaccine.
I plan to get Shingrix. Zostervax is also an option for seniors.
