Med School Café: Uterine Artery Embolization from the Perspective of Interventional Radiology #MedicalRadiology

Dr. Osama Abdul-Rahim, interventional radiologist with USA Health and assistant professor of radiology at the USA Health College of Medicine, presented “From the Perspective of Interventional Radiology: Uterine Artery Embolization for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding” during the July Med School Café.

Uterine embolization is a procedure that treats fibroids without surgery. Instead, a radiologist uses special imaging methods to treat the uterine fibroids. Dr. Abdul-Rahim discusses when uterine artery embolization is indicated, outcomes, how uterine artery embolization compares to hysterectomy and myomectomy, when patients should not undergo a uterine artery embolization, and what to expect after a uterine artery embolization.
