The Honda Indy is this weekend, and as the three-day festivities rev up, drivers in the city may be slowing down.
According to a press release from Toronto Police, road closures for the event begin as early as noon Wednesday.
Strachan Ave. southbound will be closed from Fleet St. to Lake Shore Blvd. W. at 12 p.m., said police.
At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Lake Shore Blvd. W. will be closed from Strachan Ave. to British Columbia Dr.
The roads will remain closed all weekend and will reopen on Sunday at 11 p.m., said the release.
Due to the extensive road closures, drivers can expect “significant delays” in the area and are encouraged to plan alternate routes, said police.
They are asking that anyone attending Honda Indy to use public transit like the TTC and GO Transit — both of which will be providing increased service to the Exhibition Place.
For those taking the subway, there will not be any service between Lawrence and St. Clair stations on Saturday and Sunday, according to the TTC website. On Sunday, subway service between St. George and Broadview station will start by noon.
Shuttle buses and Wheels-Trans service will be running, says the TTC.
According to the Honda Indy website, festival gates are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the festival running from Friday to Sunday. Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website.
