Taking more time off after the British Open did not help Tiger Woods on Thursday.
In his first round since Portrush, Woods shot a 4-over 75 at The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club. The Northern Trust is the first leg of the PGA Tour playoffs.
Though it’s early in the day, he’s already near the bottom of the leaderboard and will have an uphill climb to make the cut on Friday.
Expectations soared for Woods after he won The Masters in April, but he has failed to meet them as he deals with the back discomfort that kept him off the course for years.
