1. Dozens of dogs quarantined because of a disease that could harm humans
These dogs at a shelter in Iowa are under quarantine. It comes after officials traced multiple cases of canine brucellosis to a breeding center the shelter accepted dogs from. The disease is highly contagious and can cause catastrophic reproductive issues in dogs like infertility and stillbirths. If spread to humans, it can cause women to miscarry. The rescue center is currently on day five of a 30-day quarantine.
