The safety factor (of boxing at least), has definitely been a topic over the past few weeks as there have been two deaths in boxing. Both Maxim Dadashev and Hugo Santillan passed away due to injuries they sustained from boxing.
Now, many of you will say that you wouldn’t think boxing would be the more dangerous of the two sports. I mean, MMA is pretty brutal and pretty bloody. But how common are deaths in boxing? How common are deaths in MMA? How about other injuries? How do the two compare? These two deaths of these two young athletes beg the question, in boxing vs MMA, which is more dangerous? Is MMA safer than boxing? Or is boxing safer than MMA? Let’s find out.
Now, if you ask me which sport I enjoy watching more, boxing vs MMA, I’d probably say that I like MMA better. But if you want to know between boxing vs MMA, which is more dangerous, then that is not a subjective question. We have to look at some statistics to find out the answer.
